The Fontina PDO Consortium was a guest at the second edition of the Barolo & Barbaresco World Opening event as part of the European campaign “Top Tales: A piece of Europe on your table,” aimed at raising awareness of European excellence in the United States and China.
On 28 and 29 April 2022 the Consortium of Producers for the Protection of Fontina DOP was a guest of the Barolo & Barbaresco World Opening, event organised in Los Angeles by the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani to present the new vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco. Piedmont's two most iconic wines were accompanied by Fontina DOP, along with Riso di Baraggia Biellese e Vercellese DOP, with the aim of promoting these excellences together in the US market.
The press preview took place on 28 April, followed by an exclusive Gala Dinner at the Paramount Pictures Hollywood Studio to celebrate Italian food and wine culture. The following day, the event moved to the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles for a Grand Tasting dedicated to the presentation of the new vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco, 2018 and 2019 respectively, by 200 producers.
The event, part of the European “Top Tales: A piece of Europe on your table,” also promoted information seminars to acquaint the press and trade operators on site with the history, characteristics and properties of Fontina PDO in the presence of the Director of the Consortium, Fulvio Blanchet. “Fontina DOP is the most iconic and best known product of the Aosta Valley not only in Italy, but also in the United States, which is one of our main markets abroad. Operations aimed at making our excellence and quality known in prestigious contexts like that of Los Angeles together with other Italian GIs are of enormous strategic importance for Made in Italy and for the valorisation of the Italian food and wine heritage”.
